About Us
A Little More Play. A Little More Discovery. A Lot More Imagination.
Welcome to Wood & Toys!
My name is Werner Steyn, founder of Wood & Toys, and father to a very busy and curious 9 year old daughter, as well as (depending when you read this), a newborn son!
I started Wood & Toys from a strong belief in the importance of traditional childhood development and the incredible value of learning through play.
Children learn so much through hands-on experiences. Building, stacking, sorting, creating, imagining and exploring are all important parts of growing up. Sometimes, the simplest toys provide the greatest opportunities for learning.
I particularly appreciate toys made from natural materials, especially wood. There is something timeless and special about wooden toys. They encourage creativity, imaginative play and hands-on discovery while offering a wonderful alternative to screen-based entertainment.
What We Believe In
At Wood & Toys, our philosophy is simple:
Learning through play: Encouraging children to develop skills while having fun.
Imagination and creativity: Giving little minds the freedom to explore and create.
Traditional play: Appreciating the timeless value of real, hands-on toys.
Natural materials: Celebrating the beauty and appeal of wooden toys and other natural materials.
Meaningful childhood experiences: Helping parents find toys that offer more than just entertainment.
